Students holding Rose City Book battle trophy,

Our Jack Patriots have been working hard all year to read 8 book titles in order to compete in the district Rose City Book Battle. Each campus in Tyler ISD has a team that participates in one round of 20 questions about the books. It is important for our students to know the content of the books to get the questions correct, but they also have to be the team to answer the question correctly first! Both accuracy and speed are needed to achieve the win.

The Jack Patriot team members were Hudson Brower, Lara Anwar, Syon Sajjan, Madison Poulin, and Miles Massingill.

Our team won 2nd place during Round 1 of the Rose City Book Battle which meant they advanced to the Finals. Our team met and discussed different aspects of the books before the final competition. During the final round of competition, we were 1 of 4 other campuses competiting to be the Rose City Book Battle champs. Our team was in 2nd place for half of the competition but took 1st place by being the only team to get one of the questions correct. It was the lead we needed to secure the win!

A special thank you to Andrea Doherty for leading our team and to our teachers for supporting the love of literacy.
