Boshears new playground

It was an extra special "Meet the Teacher" event at the Boshears Center for Exceptional Programs when families were the first to gather on the resurfaced playground and browse the new Busy Bee Mart.

The Busy Bee Mart Grant was submitted by Boshears staff members Kathryn Delgado, Brenda Corley, Terry Farley, Daryanne Heard, and Peggy Grover through the Tyler ISD Foundation’s Grants for Great Ideas program. They were awarded a $4,000 grant, sponsored by Cooperative Teachers Credit Union. Additionally, Brookshire’s Grocery Company provided gift cards to fund the grocery items in the store.

The grant was used to purchase equipment to create a store, where students can apply the lessons they learn in the classroom to real-life experiences. The Busy Bee Mart program is a unique, student-driven instructional tool that will equip students with the skills needed for student success. Students, of all grade levels and capabilities, have the opportunity to engage in learning that is intentional, relevant and meaningful.
