Boshears Early Childhood and Elementary students recently enjoyed a full day of hands-on exploration and discovery during a field trip to Ecoland Early Learning Center in Kilgore!

Ecoland Early Learning Center proudly serves Region 7 students and teachers in ECSE, Life Skills, Head Start, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade. The center provides ten interactive learning centers and educational programming designed to enhance classroom learning while supporting the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Pre-K Guidelines.

During their visit, Boshears students explored immersive environments inspired by the African Serengeti and Polar regions, using their senses to learn about animals, habitats, and the world around them.

In the Serengeti, students climbed aboard a safari jeep, interacted with animals including turtles, hedgehogs, and snakes, explored sand tables, played drums, and viewed a live webcam from the African Serengeti. In the Polar region, students experienced a giant igloo made from recycled milk jugs, explored an ice-fishing hole, tried snowshoes and a sled, and learned how animals adapt to cold environments.

Outside, students continued their adventure by visiting the garden, pond, and mini town while meeting ducks, chickens, and tortoises.

It was a full day filled with exploring, learning, and fun!

A special thank-you to our teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and related services staff who helped make this experience possible. And thank you to the Ecoland team for always welcoming our students and creating accessible experiences where everyone can participate.

At Boshears, accessibility means inclusionβand inclusion creates opportunities for every student to explore, learn, and experience the world around them.
