RISE Academy is a school of choice that serves students in the Tyler Independent School District. The focus of RISE Academy is to provide dropout prevention, credit recovery, and self-paced learning opportunities for at-risk students. In addition, students who are working toward early graduation may also apply. Most courses are completed online, using Edgenuity courseware.

In partnership with the Tyler ISD Career and Technology Center, our RISE students may also have access to other certification programs such as OSHA 30, welding, and cosmetology.

RISE Academy offers flexible scheduling. Students may attend AM classes, PM classes, or follow a full-day schedule. Decisions about scheduling are made based on the needs of each individual student. Some considerations include credit attainment, STAAR/EOC test preparation, and the student’s personal needs.

Students who want to enroll at RISE must complete an application and interview process. Students must submit an application to their home campus counselor. Individuals who live outside Tyler ISD are not candidates for RISE. Consideration for admission is based upon the following process:

Referral from the home campus counselor
Grade level classification- Seniors are given first priority for admission to RISE Academy. Consideration is then given to underclassmen.
Records are reviewed including academic transcripts, discipline, and attendance.
Students must attend an in-person interview with our RISE admissions committee. A decision is then made regarding students’ admission status.
