Beyond the Classroom

The experience of attending middle school goes further than academics.

Moore is a richly diverse campus that provides successful academic opportunities, fine arts, and an array of student clubs and organizations.

We also enjoy a history of successful athletic programs and academic competitions that are sure to be a perfect fit for your child.

Athletics

We Don't Sacrifice Athletics

One of the benefits of being a comprehensive middle school and a magnet is that your child still gets to participate in sports.

See what sports we offer below.

Academic Competition

Yes, it's not athletics, but we want to ensure you know that your child could enjoy competing athletically and academically. The great news is that we are proven winners in both.

Clubs and Programs

There is a place for every child, especially your child, at Moore. Explore our clubs below.

Magnet Only Experiences

When your child is in our magnet program, they will receive multiple exclusive benefits while in the program.

This includes specialized courses, events, and field trips not offered at other middle schools:

Engineering Program

Our Engineering program is only offered to magnet students. The curriculum and technology from LJ Creates used in the program is specifically designed to introduce students to real-world engineering applications using proprietary programming software, STEM kits, and a 3D printer.

Administrative Mentors

Your child will have a campus administrator to mentor and guide them through the program. Their role is to ensure that your child continues academic growth and is comfortable with the fast-paced nature of classes. The best part is once a mentor is paired with your child, they remain with them all three years of middle school.

STEM project

Summer STEM Camps

We invite incoming magnet program students to attend our annual summer STEM camps. These camps are an excellent way for new students to build connections with future classmates and teachers while participating in hands-on engineering activities.

Registration Opens in May or June, and Camps Start in July!

NASA space suit

The NASA Trip

In 8th grade, your child will take a trip to Houston to see NASA. This one tends to be our students' favorite and something to look forward to after completing most of middle school.

Events and Celebrations

As a Tyler ISD campus, we do traditional districtwide events like Red Ribbon Week, Start with Hello, and College Colors Day. At Moore, we like to mix these annual events with others specifically for our campus. We celebrate our students and host some amazing events, and yes, they are typically centered around Math, Science, and Technology!

Student with awards

Mustang Mosaic Award

This award is presented at our 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony to all 8th-grade students who meet 6 out of 6 of the Mustang Mosaic Criteria. In the spirit of this award, we hope to encourage students to be well-rounded and involved in many of our extracurriculars. Middle school can be a hard time period for many students. For those who choose to work toward earning this award, many often find where they fit in and make incredible friends.

Tyler ISD Science fair

Host of the Annual Tyler ISD Science Fair

Each year, our campus gets the privilege of hosting the districtwide science fair. This year, it will be on January 3.

Community Multicultural Fair

We host the annual Moore Community Multicultural Fair which is completely free to attend. You can learn about different countries and cultures through interactive booth displays similar to a science fair. We also have multiple live performances, music, and art displays to enjoy. We encourage students from elementary, middle, and high school campuses to participate by sponsoring a cultural booth or performing.

This is a perfect day of educational fun for the entire family, featuring games, a silent auction, food trucks, and many opportunities to win great prizes!

Community Involvement

There are many opportunities for your child to be involved in various activities and programs that enrich our curriculum and give a well-rounded middle school experience. One example is our National Junior Honor Society students visit elementary campuses to read to students.

Another annual event is our partnership with Toys for Tots. Most recently, our student council raised over $1,900 for children in need.

There is so much more your child can benefit from at Moore.
