Welcome to Early College High School

We are a high school that allows students to obtain their diploma and an associate degree simultaneously.

The campus atmosphere at ECHS has a laid-back feel with minimal disciplinary issues. Our environment is close-knit and supportive between students and teachers. Class time is more intense than in an average high school, as all classes are either AP, Pre-AP, or Dual Credit. However, the smaller campus size allows students to bond more strongly than in a larger comprehensive setting.

Another thing that makes our campus unique is that students are also enrolled as Tyler Junior College (TJC) students and spend time on the TJC campus. This differs from regular dual credit because our students will be immersed in the college environment.

Our students also get the opportunity to visit multiple college campuses in addition to TJC during their time at ECHS.

Once you become a member of our Early College family, you'll benefit from a close-knit and supportive environment between students and teachers. Our small size allows every student to bond more strongly than in a larger setting. We would love to have you join us. We will welcome you with open wings, like all of our Early College High School Owls!

Academic Adjustment

Being a student at Early College is challenging at first, especially for students who have not taken Pre-AP coursework. The change of pace from on-level to all Pre-AP takes adjustment and dedication.

All Classes are Honors Level

TJC Partnership

We have a partnership between Tyler ISD and TJC that allows our students to simultaneously obtain their high school diploma and an associate degree from TJC. Our students can earn up to 60 college credits at no cost. Students are also able to participate in all TJC events and have use of their facilities.

The coursework is rigorous but attainable for any student. Additionally, our faculty is more supportive than almost any other campus. Because we are smaller, we can truly individualize our learning and tutorial experience.

Our Teachers Love Educating Owls

Our teachers find it very rewarding to be at Early College High School. We have an atmosphere where learning is the top priority, and our teachers never have to worry about students not being involved and engaged in classes.

Our teachers have said they never want to teach anywhere else and wish to retire from teaching as an Owl!
