Application Process
Now Offering Online Applications
Applications are accepted between January 1 and March 1.
Parents must complete the steps below during this time:
Gather required documents:
Current Proof of address (water, gas, electricity or current lease/contract)
Parent ID
If applicable: attendance records, current grades, and discipline records

Complete the application online or by printing and filling it out.
If you choose to use our paper application, bring it completed along with the required documents to the campus or email them to Maria Velasco.
Have multiple children you need to apply for? You will need to complete an application for each child separately.

All applicants* must have a Teacher Referral completed by their teacher for their application to be considered complete.
*Exception Kinder Only: Teacher survey applies only if the child was enrolled in a Pre-K program this school year.
Pre-K Special Note
Pre-K applications are being accepted exclusively at Birdwell from January 2 - March 1.
Students who are accepted at Birdwell must also have a completed Pre-K application directly with Tyler ISD as early as February 1st. We suggest you complete the district's application and select "Birdwell" as your preferred campus. Letters of Acceptance from Birdwell will be sent to parents in April.
Types of PreK Admissions:
(1) Tuition-Free based on qualification as determined by Tyler ISD for the Dual Language Program; or
(2) Tuition based enrollment is determined by non-eligibility of the tuition-free Pre-K program.

Proceed to Online Registration
(families who reside in the Tyler ISD attendance zone)
For Campus Name, choose "Tyler ISD Pre-K & Head Start" and indicate your preferred campus as Birdwell on the appropriate form.
Who Can Apply?
What happens after I submit my application?
Your child will be tested for language proficiency on our campus on designated testing days.
After the application window closes on March 1, the administration team will review the applications. Letters will be mailed home in April indicating student acceptance or unapproved status.
For accepted students, parents will sign and return the letter of acceptance and bring required documents for enrollment to the New Parent Orientation session on campus.
If applicable, administration will schedule a meeting to sign additional documents.
