2020-06-02 Tyler ISD Informs Graduates and Families of Pre-Ceremony Traffic Concerns, Gate Opening Time
It’s Graduation Week! Tyler ISD is excited to celebrate the Class of 2020 by hosting in-person graduation ceremonies June 3 through June 6 at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
Stadium gates will open for RISE Academy and ECHS ceremonies at 7 p.m. and at 6:45 p.m. for John Tyler and Robert E. Lee ceremonies.
Tyler ISD Graduation Ceremony Schedule
Wednesday, June 3, 8 p.m. – RISE Academy
Thursday, June 4, 8 p.m. – Early College High School
Friday, June 5, 8 p.m. – John Tyler High School
Saturday, June 6, 8 p.m. – Robert E. Lee High School
The graduation ceremonies are optional. The ceremonies will air live on Facebook, TISD-TV Channel 19, and the District website. All ceremonies will be recorded for DVD purchase. To purchase a DVD go to tylerisd.org/graduation.It is important to note that traffic may be affected as guests arrive due to the Fair Food Drive-In Days event hosted by the East Texas State Fair. The drive-in event will be operating near the stadium during the arrival time until ceremonies begin for three out of the four district graduations. According to its website, the East Texas State Fair says it will have tables on the fairgrounds in the south pavilion. The District strongly reminds graduates and their families that TEA guidelines explicitly state that people are not to congregate outside or inside of the stadium at any given time. Therefore, the District will enforce social distancing in areas surrounding the stadium. Additionally, food and drink items will NOT be allowed into the stadium.
Should rain or inclement weather delay any of the scheduled ceremonies, the District Contingency Plan is to move the RISE Academy ceremony to Thursday, June 4, at 9 a.m. and the ECHS ceremony will move to Friday, June 5, at 9 a.m. If either the John Tyler or Robert E. Lee ceremonies are rained out, that ceremony will move to Sunday, June 7 at 8 p.m.
Media are asked to inform Executive Director of Communications Jennifer Hines at 903-262-1064 of their intent to cover ceremonies by end of business Wednesday, June 3.
