2020-05-19 Tyler ISD Congratulates Campus Teachers of the Year

TOY logo Congratulations to 30 Tyler ISD teachers who have been named Campus Teachers of the Year by their fellow teachers and staff at their campuses. This honor is awarded to teachers who exemplify extraordinary models of leadership and excellence in teaching that ultimately helps create successful student outcomes.

These teachers will compete for District Elementary Teacher of the Year and District Secondary Teacher of the Year honors. Due to COVID-19, the selection process was adapted to include a virtual interview along with a written portfolio submitted by each candidate. Scores from both the interview and the portfolio are tallied and the teachers with the highest scores are named District Elementary Teacher of the Year and District Secondary Teacher of the Year.

“We are excited to honor all of these outstanding teachers,” Executive Director of Communications Jennifer Hines said. “While we are celebrating their achievements virtually this spring, we look forward to joining the Cooperative Teachers Credit Union in hosting a celebration this fall so that we can truly honor them on the grander scale they deserve.”

Tyler ISD will digitally announce the District winners on Wednesday, May 27, at 7 p.m. on the website and social media pages (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) through a special video produced by TISD-TV. District winners will then move on to compete at the regional level.

“This year, more than ever, I think we all have learned to appreciate the dedication and love that all teachers exhibit in their work,” CTCU President and CEO Tim Miller said.  “Congratulations to all the Campus Teachers of the Year for Tyler ISD.  You have done a tremendous job, and we can’t wait to see you back in your classrooms.”

Additional sponsors for the Teacher of the Year program include Tab and Bonnie Beall and Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins and Mott, LLP.
