Mr. David McKain
I grew up in a large ministry family in Indianapolis, Indiana but moved to Texas in 1986. My wife is also an educator and we have a large family that includes 7 grown children and 15 grandchildren, our greatest accomplishment and joy in life.
I enjoy most sports but growing up in Indiana, I especially enjoy basketball. I did not have the height to play ball so I got my officiating license in 1979 and was a basketball official for several years. I still love "March Madness" and high school basketball. My wife also enjoys sports and you will see us at John Tyler football and basketball games, and volleyball games cheering on the Lions.
I spent 17 years in pastoral ministry, pastoring four great churches in Michigan, Indiana and Texas. In 1997 I moved into public education and spent 20 years teaching math classes at the Junior High, High School and now college level. I am currently an adjunct math instructor for Kilgore College. I loved the classroom and enjoyed each and every year that I taught, especially the high school years. In 2016 I completed my School Counseling degree from Lamar University and made the move to the Counseling Office.
I travel on most weekends in a gospel trio that sings all around Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma and occasionally in Indiana.
I am delighted to be serving the students of John Tyler High School and my goal is to serve with competence and compassion. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can assist you.
