Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Barbara Masten
I am so pleased to be a teacher with Tyler ISD. I say this because I moved to Tyler the senior year of high school from Pennsylvania, so I am a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee. I earned my teaching degree from Stephen F. Austin State University (Go Lumberjacks!) and have taught in the Nacogdoches/Tyler ever since. I am thankful to return to the Rose City and give back to the community from which I came. While at SFASU, I earned degrees in: Elementary Education Grades 1-8, All Level Special Education, Visually Impaired, Orientation and Mobility, and Hearing Impaired. I have since added PreK-Kindergarten, GT certification and ELS certifications.
I am a 4th grade Math and Science teacher here at Peete. Please feel free to contact me on the phone: 903-262-2460. (Feel free to call and leave a message with the front office and I will return your call as soon as possible if I am not able to talk at the time of your call.) My email is: email@example.com. Lastly, you may contact me through the Remind classroom which has been created for parents.
The schedule for my students is:
7:35-7:45 Morning Meeting
7:45-10:05 Math and Science
10:05 Switch with Ms. Piza's Class
11:20-1:25 Science and Math
1:25-2:10 Specials (My Conference)
2:55 Release to Pick Up
The Peete Elementary Wildcat Words for the year are: Model, (Are you being a good model?), Support, (Are you supporting your neighbor?) and Engage, (Are you engaged in what you are supposed to be doing?). These words go hand in hand with my teaching philosophy. It is my belief that all students can learn and it is our job to work together so that all students set goals for themself and every day strive toward that goal. So, at Peete, we are going to #Find A Way to Win!
