Mrs. Marcie Fowler

My name is Marcie Fowler, and I am the dyslexia designee for Owens Elementary. I started my teaching career in 2011, and I absolutely love my job! I have previously taught 5th grade math, reading, writing, and social studies, and most recently I was a reading interventionist for grades K-5 at Cain Elementary in Whitehouse. I look forward to helping my students become successful, confident readers. We utilize MTA (Multi-Sensory Teaching Approach) curriculum in the dyslexia classroom and monitor progress with the DIBELS program. We do lots of activities that are tactile, kinesthetic, and visual during our learning because dyslexic students learn best when multiple senses are involved. This is going to be a fantastic year!

My philosophy of dyslexia education is that all students will have the opportunity to know and understand their diagnosis and connect the skills they learn in my class to all aspects of learning, so that in turn they will become better readers, as well as confident and successful students and adults.

The best way to reach me is via email, but should you call and can't reach me, please leave a message, and I will get back with you as soon as I can. I check my email first thing in the morning (8 am), around lunchtime (11 am), and again after school and before going home(3:30 and 4:00).
