Owens Elementary Counseling
Hello! My name is Monica Jones and I am your School Counselor!
This is my 8th year in education and 5th year as a school counselor. I am a graduate of The University of North Texas, and I got my Masters of Arts in School Counseling from UT Tyler. Before becoming a counselor, I taught 1st grade in both Tyler and Arlington. I am also a proud product of Tyler ISD, having attended elementary school, middle school, and high school here in Tyler.
As the school counselor, I work with students, teachers, support staff, parents/guardians, and members of the community. I am an important part of a team that works to create a positive learning environment for all students reflective of our school and district vision of character education and social-emotional learning. The Owens Counseling Program is made up of classroom guidance lessons, small group guidance, and individual counseling.
