Mr. Paul D. Arrington

This is my 8th year working in Tyler ISD, and my 10th year working in the Texas public Schools. I have been a member of the faculty of the Early College High School since its inception in 2015, and have previously served as AVID Campus Coordinator (2015-18), and taught AVID 1, AVID 3, and Pre-AP World Geography. I currently serve as Senior Advisor for the TJC Site, Webmaster, and AVID 4 Elective Instructor. I am a member of the ECHS Leadership Team, which includes campus, district, and TJC administrators, and am an Adjunct Professor of Learning Framework (EDUC 1300) for Tyler Junior College.

Before joining the faculty of the Early College High School, I was a member of the faculty at John Tyler High School from 2012-15. I served as the AVID Campus Coordinator (2013-15), taught AP U.S. History (2012-15), World Geography (2012-14), and AVID 4 (2014-15). During the 2011-12 year, I was a full-time graduate student at The University of Texas at Tyler and an AVID College Coach at John Tyler and Robert E. Lee High Schools. During the last six weeks of the year, I served as a long-term substitute at James S. Hogg Middle School, teaching 6th and 7th grade social studies.

Prior to joining Tyler ISD, I began my career at Hearne High School, a small school of about 300 students thirty minutes north of Bryan-College Station from 2009-11. My first year, I taught World History (on-level and Pre-AP), served as the Assistant Director of Bands, and as Acting Chair of the Social Studies Department. During my second year in Hearne, I taught World Geography (on-level and Pre-AP), U.S. Government, Economics, and served as Chair of the Social Studies Department and as a mentor teacher.
