Miss Ashley Turner

Greetings Parent(s) and Guardian(s)!

I bring you knowledge and greetings all the way from Louisiana! I am excited to educate your student this 2018-2019 school year. I bring to Moore’s table a B. A. in History, as well as an M.A.T. in teaching from Louisiana Tech.  This is my 11th year teaching and I am looking forward to each moment.  My hope is to get your student enthused about learning Social Studies through engaging lessons and hands-on activities and learning outside the classroom.

In 6th Grade, our content will take us around the world.  Exploring new cultures, languages, housing, governments, and people, as well as mapping.

The goals for this year is to present historical content in which it is meaningful to your student.  We will use higher order thinking activities, terminology, and visuals.  These skills will carry your student from now until their college career.

As a classroom monitoring method, we will use CLASS DOJO, a parent/student/teacher friendly app that will assist you in monitoring their participation progress, assessment/assignments, and journals.

Our HOTS content will contain sequencing, comparing and contrasting, making inferences and generalizations, interpreting maps and graphs.  We will use thinking maps, sentence elaborations, and other engaging methods.
