Miss Kristin Pool

I am so blessed to be a part of the Rice Ranger family.  This is my fourth year at Rice Elementary and it is a joy to teach music to Kindergarten through 5th grade students. In 2006, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Central Baptist College and have taught music in multiple enviroments over the past 18 years.

In my experience as a piano teacher, children’s ministry director and school teacher, I have learned that each child should be nurtured and encouraged. It is my desire to help students reach their full potential and provide them with the tools necessary to develop into the best he or she can be.

As a music teacher, I want to cultivate an environment where students can be creative, discover their natural talents, and be excited about learning. In my classroom, students will sing, compose, play instruments, improvise, learn about the history of music and different genres, read music, dance and most importantly perform. I believe each of these activities will enable me, as the teacher, to connect with students of all learning styles.

Music is a medium where multiple life skills are learned, including self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and self-expression.  Additionally, students will learn how to accept constructive criticism and grow from their mistakes, becoming higher-achieving individuals capable of excellence in all areas of life. The music classroom provides an excellent atmosphere to garner feedback that will foster improvement and encourage student achievement through performance.  The skills learned in the music classroom will translate from growth as young musicians into the development of well-rounded, productive members of society.

I look forward to establishing a classroom where students are able to learn about music in a safe environment that is full of joy and excitement in grasping new concepts.  My desire is to communicate my passion for children by establishing a relationship with each child in such a way that each one feels important, unique, and, most of all, loved.
