    FAFSA Grand Prize Winner

    John Tyler Senior, Madai Gregorio was the Grand Prize winner of the drawing held by the Smith County FAFSA Submission Taskforce committee. Students from Smith County were able to submit their FAFSA. John Tyler, Robert E. Lee, the Hispanic Service Center and the Tyler Public Library were the venues open for the FAFSA Super Saturday Event.  Pictured above is Dr. Kenneth Gay, Ms. Pam Rodriguez, Mr. Fred Petes, Madai Gregorio and her mother.

    McGowan Goes to Nationals

    John Tyler's Sheldon McGowan has qualified to go to the 2015 National Speech and Debate contest during the month of June.  McGowan is the first John Tyler Lion to qualify for this event.  
     



    Elizabeth Corona was highlighted in the Tyler Paper in the section "People in the Community Who Make a Difference"

    Barnes and Nobles has selected Kelton McGee's essay on his 7th and 8th grade AVID teacher, Ms. Jenkins to be entered into the Regional Contest

    Congratulations to JT's Darric Ward and Sheldon McGowan who both competed this week at the Texas State Capital Congressional Debate Tournament.

    Ward finished in the Top 50 out of 180 competitors while McGowan finished 9th overall and received a gavel for his accomplishments. 
     



    Congratulations to the New National Honor Society Members



    John Tyler seniors, Karina Fonseca and Jeremy Wilson were recognized on Thursday, November 13th, 2014 by the Tyler Rotary Club.  The students were recognized for their outstanding academic, athletic, and leadership qualities at a luncheon at Hollytree Country Club. The students were presented a memento on behalf of the Rotary Club of Tyler.  Congratulations to Karina and Jeremy on their recognition award. The students were accompanied by Principal, Dr. Kenneth Gay, Coordinator of Records and scheduling, Mrs. Aretha Williams and College & Career Advisor, Mrs. Pamela Rodriguez.

    John Tyler Lions Wins!

    The JT Lions defeated the Longview Lobos in the
    Great American Rivalry by completing more chin-ups


    A reception was held on Tuesday, August 26th, 2014 to honor the newly selected John Tyler High School Seniors to serve on the Texas Bank and Trust Student Junior Board of Directors.

    Students selected for this prestigious leadership role learn about being entrepreneurs, investment making decisions, the stock market, credit worthiness, & budgeting their monies.

    Serving on the Student Junior Board of Directors this year are:  Karina Fonseca, Elizabeth Corona, Lizeth Zavala, Daniel Gonzalez & Jolene Calleja.  Attending the reception to celebrate this occasion were the students' parents, Dr. Kenneth Gay, Ms. Aretha Williams, Mr. Channing Curry, Ms. Onella Brown, & Ms. Pamela Rodriguez.  Congratulations to our students.
