Degrees and Certifications:
I have my BS in Elementary Education and 121 post graduate hours in courses I enjoyed taking. I am certified in several different categories and continue to update my knowledge to help me be a stronger educator for my students.
Mrs. Eddie Hill
This is my 30th year at Rice!!! I taught PE for 5 years at Orr Elementary and 4th grade for 5 years at Griffin Elemenatry. A long time to teach and a LOT of wonderful students to love. Please help me help your child by supporting ALL of the school rules and each of their teachers. I work very hard to create independent thinkers and workers so they are prepared for what lies ahead. It is soooo important for your child to be at school every day--IF at all possible.
Best way to contact me is via my email: email@example.com I will respond to you as soon as I can. I teach full speed ahead and am only at my desk for 1-2 minute bursts when my kiddoes are in the room.
The school phone number is 903.262.2555. The office will pass you on to my extension only at the times they are allowed to. They will email me and let me know you called and leave me your message. I am usually available for phone conferences from 8:10-8:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and some Fridays and from 3:30-4:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays. I work with UIL kiddoes, tutorial and Science club kiddoes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. ALL Mondays are faculty meetings, therefore; no teachers are available on Monday afternoons.
My main goal for all of my students is for them to become independent thinkers and doers. That means taking care of their assignments when they are due and doing the best work they can. I want them to be leaders and not followers. I will encourage them to prove to themselves just how reliable, honest, smart, kind and positive they can be.
Your child may have a HEALTHY snack while in Mrs. Baker's class (begins at 9:03. I have Mr. Simms' kiddoes at that time and they are very welcome to have a HEALTHY snack in my room. WATER is always encouraged--NO flavored water packets, please and of course no sodas or fruit drinks in the room. They are more than welcome to have flavored drinks with their lunch.
Please help us help your child to be as successful as possible this year. Fifth grade is not an easy grade and they know they MUST pass the STAAR tests in order to go to 6th grade. IF they listen and work to their full potential this year, they should be very ready to pass those tests as well as 5th grade:)
