Razorback Reading/Tech Circles  As our new year begins, please know that we have formed interest groups to provide more access to our library.  Your student may sign up and receive a pass to come to the library before school through ELAR classes.  We will explore new technology apps, have reading circles and  vary responses, perhaps play a little chess, and generally just enjoy time in the library.  Ms. Joy hopes to see you there.

Ms. Joy's Teaching Philosophy
I welcome you to the James S. Middle School Library. I am the Librarian/Media/Technology Specialist and have taught twenty-five years in TylerISD and eight years elsewhere. Our Library is located upstairs on the South side of the campus and is open for student use from 7:45-4:30 on Monday-Thursday, or later when necessary. Friday's schedule is from 7:45-3:45.

Loving kids is what I do! It has never been easy for me to decide which interests I wish to share more: appreciating literature, all kinds of music with keyboard and guitar, all art/design history through various medium, or athletic endeavors which fall only slightly behind my first-mentioned interests. More important to me than all of these, I am a Christian believer and member of Glenwood Church of Christ here in Tyler. Still a lifelong runner, I love basketball, soccer, tennis and even occasionally, golf.  I also love to laugh!  My mantra: "If students read quality writing, they will emulate those same writing skills as they explore their own written expressions."  Helping students find "what they need to know" with higher-ordered thinking queries and research strategies using current, available technology is an on-going challenge that is greatly emphasized.
