Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Laura Lunsford
I was a Junior in high school when I knew that my destiny was to become a teacher. I graduated from Hallsville High School in 1995 and went on to attend Kilgore College where I competed in Forensic Speech/Debate. I transferred to East Texas Baptist University and studied Communication and Kinesiology. I earned my B.S.E. in 2000 and began teaching for Hallsville I.S.D. I have taught Theatre Arts, Speech Communication, Technical Theatre, and coached Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. I have also worked as a certified personal trainer which prepared me for running numerous half marathons and one full marathon. I took a break from teaching in 2009 and began working for Haltex Machine Works. I had a great experience with Haltex, but I missed teaching. I can honestly say that teaching is my calling! I moved to Tyler in 2014 and accepted a job at James S. Hogg Middle School. I received my certification in Technical Applications and also obtained training in A.V.I.D. My current teaching assignment is Career Technology Education which allows me to assist students in College and Career Readiness, Professional Communication, and Audio Visual Art. My philosophy for teaching is simple...mentor the heck out of kids. I treat my students as if they're my own children. Tough love is necessary at times, but respect is always my goal. I love my job, love my kids, and love my life.
