Planning Time: 1:55-2:40
I love working with my dyslexia students. I was a classroom teacher for 28 years and felt called to move on to a new venture. I have spent the last six years teaching the MTA program.
In the dyslexia classroom, we work on reading fluency to help build stronger readers who, hopefully, will learn to love reading. Everyone can learn, but some of us must work a little harder to achieve our potential. I love helping my students grow in reading. The best way to improve is to practice. When something is more challenging, we must put forth more effort. Therefore, I encourage my students to read at home on a daily basis.
Most Fridays, we do progress monitoring where I time my students reading orally for one minute. They have a goal which must be met in order to progress to the next level in the Dibels program that we use. This will help them to build fluency.
