Ms. Lori Roper
Dyslexia Teacher in room 79A
Planning Time: 11:30-12:15
In the dyslexia classroom, we work on reading fluency to help build stronger readers who, hopefully, will learn to love reading. Everyone can learn, but some of us must work a little harder to achieve our potential. I love helping my students grow in reading. The best way to improve is to practice. When something is more challenging, we must put forth more effort. Therefore, I encourage my students to read at home on a daily basis. I will have the students keep a log sheet for my class. Please sign them for your children as they read at home. As they return them, I will be keeping track with a scoreboard in my classroom.
Most Fridays, we do progress monitoring where I time my students reading orally for one minute. They have a goal which must be met in order to progress to the next level in the Dibels program that we use. This will help them to build fluency.
