Hello, friends! My name is Debbie Fatheree. I am a Stephen F. Austin graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Education. I am currently the art teacher for grades K-5. This is my sixth year teaching art at Ramey Elementary. I love teaching art and watching students mature as young artists. Ramey students enjoy coming to class to expore their creative imangination. The goal of art education at Ramey Elementary is to help students acquire a better understanding of art as a way of learning about themselves and the world around them. Students can learn a lot through art that goes well beyond the knowledge and skills acquired during the art activity itself. As their teacher, I must consider the important role that students play in the the learning process. Ramey's elementary art program should provide students with opportunities to learn how:
1. to create and reflect upon their own artwork
2. to respond in a thoughtful manner to the art of others
3. to value art's unique contribution to human experience
4. to relate art to its time and culture
5. to learn and improve art techniques and process with different medias
First Six Weeks K-5
Learning Objective: Line, Shape and Color
