    This past Saturday select members of the John Tyler Orchestra participated in UIL solo contest. Longview High School hosted the contest and 8 high schools across region 21 participated.

    We are proud to announce that the John Tyler Orchestra won 11 first division medals.

    Parents and Students,

    John Tyler is a closed campus. Meaning, students are to remain on campus once they report to campus.

    Students are not allowed to park at the donut shop, the church, or anywhere but the campus parking lot.

    Remember to have your child at school daily by 8 AM.

    Chanel Veazy, John Tyler High School Principal

    Chanel Howard-Veazy    

    Chanel Howard-Veazy comes to Tyler ISD from Sealy ISD where she has served as executive director of curriculum and instruction and district testing director since 2016. Ms. Howard-Veazy has served most of her 24-year educational career in Dallas ISD as principal at Lincoln High School and Humanities/Communication Magnet, Fred Florence Middle School and Thomas Tolbert Elementary School. She also served as associate principal at Pearl C. Anderson Middle Learning Center and dean of instruction at Sarah Zumwalt Middle School. Inside the classroom, Ms. Howard-Veazy taught general, Pre-AP and AP English in Dallas, LaMarque and Denton ISDs as well as Ouachita Parish Schools in Louisiana.


    Ms. Howard-Veazy earned a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Grambling State University, a Master of Education in Educational Administration & Supervision from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and completed her superintendent certification at The University of Texas at Arlington. Welcome to John Tyler High School!
