Mrs. Lillian Ruth Galicia
Administrative Assistant - AP's
I have been with Tyler ISD for 25 years. I have been employeed at Douglas Elementary School as a bilingual Teacher's assistant for 7 years where I assisted in pull-out programs, admisistor of state mandated testing, home visits, and other fun and fulfilling duties. At Dogan Middle School I was the bilingual teacher's assistant for 3 years carrying on the same duties as I did at Douglas Elementary. It was during my 5 year asssignment as Dogan's Home/School Liaison is when I received my certification under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). For the duration of my assignement as Home/ School Liaison I also was PTA Vice-President, member of SCCADA, Tyler ISD Volunteer Connection Liaison, and public relations liaison for the Hispanic business community.
Leaving Dogan Middle School was bittersweet. For the next 3 years I was assigned to Tyler ISD Title 1 Parenting Services Bilingual Home School Liaison. In the 8 years as a Home School Liason for Tyler ISD I created the parenting program Parent Assistance and Sacrifice in Education (PASE) and instructed parenting classes for the district and occasionally for Tyler Juvenile Court. Both types of classes were instructed in English and in Spanish. A few other duties included in my assignment with Title 1 Parenting was as an instructor of basic computer classes for parents of students in our district and monthly training meeting with administrators and liaisons throughout the district. I was employeed with Tyler Literacy Council for over 4 years as a teacher of adult ESL classes. After leaving Tyler for almost 3 years on a family emergency, I returned to Tyler ISD and was hired onto Boulter Middle School campus as the bilingual teacher's assistant. My duties at this time are as the discipline clerk and as the administrative assistant to our 3 assistant prinnciples. Boulter Middle School is a blessing to me in my life as is our community for which I serve proudly and will continue to do so whole-heartedly.
