Mission Statement

The art education program in Tyler Independent School district will prepare students for the challenges which they may encounter now and in the future in becoming responsible, productive, citizens. It will aid them in achieving a sense of personal fulfillment.

To achieve this mission, the district art teachers and administrators have identified the basic needs of students and the aesthetic needs of the community. They have developed a curriculum which involves students with concepts, as well as issues
and processes of visual arts. It focuses on the TEKS and projects through instruction in four basic components: art history, art criticism, studio experiences, and aesthetics.
