a Federally Funded Program

What Is Title-I

Title-I is the largest federal aid program for our nation's schools.  The goal of Title-I is a high-quality education for every child.  The program provides extra help to students who are attending identified Title-I schools.   Identified Title-I schools are those schools with high poverty levels. Title-I focuses on assisting students in meeting the standards the state has set for all children.

The Title-I program in the Tyler Independent School District serves 11,854 children in the elementary and secondary schools this school year.  The students are enrolled in the following identified schools:

Austin Bell Birdwell
Bonner Caldwell Clarkston
Dixie Douglas Griffin
Jones Orr Peete
Ramey Woods Boulter
Dogan Hogg Moore
Stewart John Tyler

Participation in the Tyler Independent School District Title-I program does make a difference in the lives of students, parents, and teachers.

  • Children receive more educational opportunities

  • Parents have more say about their child's education

  • Teachers benefit through staff development, materials, and supplies purchased by Title-I funds
