Darren Avey is a Network/Computer Technician/Educational Trainer for the Electronic Service Center/Special Education Department located at 730 S. Chilton at the Gary Administrative Annex.  Darren came to Tyler ISD in August 2005 and has been working in the field of Special Education and Technology since 1992.

Darren holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, Texas.  Along with his BS degree, Darren is also a Dell Certified Technician.

Darren is the primary Special Education Technician/Trainer for the entire district. He serves all campuses with Special Education Classes. His primary role is Assistive Technology Coordinator for Tyler ISD.  In this role he assesses student needs with regard to technology and coordinates implementation of these technologies across Tyler ISD.  Darren can be contacted at darren.avey@tylerisd.org or (903) 262-3178.
