Vernier LabPro Physiology Package

The Vernier LabPro interface is the heart of our data-collection system, offering unparalleled power, flexibility, portability, and ease of use at an affordable price. To collect data, simply connect LabPro to your computer or handheld device, plug in one of our sensors, and start the data-collection program. The program automatically detects which sensors are connected.

• The rugged and durable temperature probe has a sealed stainless steel shaft and tip that can be used in organic liquids, salt solutions, acids, and bases. This probe is the same as the probe shipped with CBL 2™.

• The EKG Sensor measures electrical signals produced during muscle contractions. It can be used for standard 3-lead EKG tracings or to make surface EMG recordings. Each of the three leads on the sensor connect to disposable electrodes. Above, an EKG graph is displayed, demonstrating to students the contraction and repolarization of the heart's chambers. A package of 100 disposable electrodes is included with the sensor.

• Our new Hand-Grip Heart Rate Monitor is ideal for determining a person’s heart rate while mobile or stationary. With this sensor, heart rate can be monitored during, as well as after exercise. The sensor consists of wireless hand grips and a receiver module that plugs into any of our data-collection devices. The hand grips sense the electrical signals generated by the heart, much like an ECG. For each pulse detected, a signal is transmitted to the receiver module, and the individual’s pulse rate is calculated.

• The Surface Temperature sensor, featuring an exposed thermistor that results in an extremely rapid response time, the Surface Temperature Sensor is ideal for situations in which low thermal mass or flexibility are required, or for a skin temperature measurement. For use in air only

• The Blood Pressure Sensor is a non-invasive sensor designed to measure human blood pressure. It can be used to measure systolic and diastolic blood pressure utilizing the oscillometric technique. The sensor includes a standard adult size adjustable cuff (27 cm to 39 cm), pump bulb and pressure tansducer.

  A smaller cuff (18 cm to 27 cm) is available for younger students, and includes a pump bulb and valve.
• The Hand Dynamometer, Our new strain-gage based isometric dynamometer can be used to measure grip strength and to perform muscle fatigue studies. The Hand Dynamometer can be used alone or in combination with EMG recordings for detailed studies of muscular activity. Measurements can be made in Newtons or kilograms force.
