  •   Narrow your college list.

  •   Continue requesting needed applications and admissions information.

  •   Go to www.applytexas.org for the Apply Texas application

  •   See your counselor for SAT/ACT registration bulletins-register online.

  •   Update your student profile with new info from summer.

  •  Mark all deadlines for test registration, college application, and scholarship application due dates.    Prepare your Brag Sheet and begin asking teachers, counselors, and employers for letters of recommendations.

  •  Meet with Admissions Officers during their visit to REL.

  •  Work on college essays. Be thinking of someone to proofread your essays upon completion.

  • Apply for a PIN# at www.pin.ed.gov to be ready to file FAFSA in January.

oct

  • Take the SAT or ACT.

  •  Go to the websites of those colleges on your “apply list”. Make sure you are aware of all deadlines for admissions and scholarships and have ordered transcripts from the Registrar's Office.

  •   Take the SAT or ACT if you have not already done so.

  •   Attend Tyler Area College Night at Tyler Junior College – November.

  •   Take the THEA or Accuplacer, if applicable.

  •  Finalize college applications. 

  •  Take the SAT or ACT again if you are not satisfied with your scores.

  •  Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to begin completing the FAFSA.  Look over to determine the information you may need to gather to complete this application.  Do not submit this application before January 1.

  •   Apply for outside funding or scholarships.

  •   Submit the FAFSA Application online.

  •   If your university requires mid-year reports, get these forms to your counselor ASAP.

feb

  •   Midyear reports due to colleges that require them.

mar

  •   Take a breather… Enjoy Spring Break.

apr

  •   Register for the AP Exams.

  •   Re-take the THEA or Accuplacer, if applicable.

  •   Watch mail for college acceptance and financial aid award letters.

  •   Once you have made your college choice, be sure to decline offers from other colleges. 

  •   Watch for important deadlines for housing and financial aid applications.

  •   Notify colleges of your decision.

  •   If you were “wait-listed” by a college and intend to enroll if accepted, call, visit, or write to the admissions director to see how to strengthen your application.

  •   Take the AP exams.

  •   Request final transcripts to be sent to your college of choice.

  • Send an official transcript to TJC if you have earned Dual credit. TJC will not release your TJC transcript until they have an official transcript from REL with your graduation date posted.
