Moore Cheerleaders Win First at StateMustang cheerleaders won their fourth state title this past weekend in Denton at the Texas Cheerleader Magazine State Championship. The girls placed first in their division winning a championship banner and a large trophy. In addition, each cheerleader was awarded a state championship jacket. Junior Historians collect cans for PATHThe Moore Junior Historians sponsored the annual Homecoming Dance on Friday, October 23rd. They raised money for their field trip and collected almost 700 pounds of food that was donated to PATH for distribution during the upcoming holidays. Moore Fundraiser Participants Celebrate in StyleOn Friday October 16th, one hundred and eighty excited Moore Mustangs were treated to a field trip at Green Acres Bowling with soft drinks and popcorn as an added treat. All Region Choir Try-outsAdvanced Choir members went to Hallsville High School this past Saturday for the All Region Try-outs. Twenty –Four Students boldly sang for judges in the audition. We had Twelve students making the Choir. The Duke University 7th Grade Talent SearchThe Duke University 7th Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation. The Talent Search identifies academically talented 7th graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Moore Math, Science, Technology Family NightYou are invited to preview what Moore Magnet school has to offer your child for middle level education. The Moore MST Campus, TISD’s Math, Science, and Technology Magnet School, is holding its 10th annual Math, Science, and Technology Night on Thursday, October 15, 2009 on the school campus. Moore Social Studies Department Chair Participates in Cultural Teaching Experience Some teachers go to the beach; some go to the mountains or some exotic location; and some even teach summer school. This past summer, Dr. Jerry Frazier Social Studies Department Chair at Moore MST Magnet, went to Qujing, China CHEER FOR A CURE / NATIONAL PINK DAYMoore cheerleaders will sponsor their first ever “Cheer for a Cure” this month. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the cheerleaders will be raising money to donate to the Komen for a Cure Foundation. All proceeds from spirit sells sold at school, athletic events, and other school functions will go toward their goal of raising $1,000 for the local Komen chapter. SCHOOL-WIDE FUNDRAISER WINNERSSeth Singer wins Barnes and Noble contestAttached are pictures of Seth Singer last week when the Barnes & Noble representative came to the Moore library to present him with his autographed copy of The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. The “S” in MSTThe Moore Science Department offers students a wide variety of opportunities to explore the world around them. The faculty of the Science Department has a collective century of experience and knowledge in teaching and a wide variety of scientific disciplines.
See You at the Pole
Moore MST Middle School FCS hosted a "See You at the Pole" program at the
school's flagpole Wednesday before classes began. Approximately 200 students,
parents, and teachers were in attendance. Our guest speaker, Jason Humphreys, addressed how fortunate we are to be able to
assemble and express our beliefs freely.
First dance a huge successOn Friday, September 18th, we held our first dance of the 2009-2010 school year. The sponsors of the dance were the Moore P.T.A. and the Moore Student Council. The members of student council decorated the gym in a black and white color ... ATTENTION all Brainiacs and Mustang Maniacs!UIL practice is off and running but we still need you! Ask not what your school can do for you, ask what can my brain do for school! Math and Science may be the M and S in MST but Art and Music are the backbone of the well roundedness of our great student body. Summer Reading ClubSeveral students participated in the first ever Summer Reading Club at Moore Middle School. Students were encouraged to read books this summer and then go online to complete the short form answering a few questions about the book they read. This information was then e-mailed to Mrs. Smith, the librarian.
Mustang Fundraiser
Three happy Moore Mustangs won prizes on the first day of the School-wide Fundraiser turn in date in a drawing. Pictured are winners: Clayton Morton who won Student Council Student Council members for 2009-2010 would like to welcome each and every student to Moore. We are thankful for your help in making this an exciting school year thus far... Moore Cheerleaders Dominate TJC Camp After making a clean sweep at the Universal Cheerleader Association camp in June, Moore Middle School cheerleaders and mascot made a repeat performance by winning the top awards at the National Cheerleader Association camp held at Tyler Junior College August 3-5. The squad won Champion Chant against allMoore Cheerleaders Make Clean Sweep at Camp Moore cheerleaders made school cheerleading history by winning the triple championship at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp held at the University of Texas at Arlington June 22-25.
