Welcome:

to SIXTH GRADE WORLD CULTURES!!!  Get ready to expand your horizons and learn about the world, its people, its places, as well as, contemporary issues that have the potential to change our lives and the lives of those around us.  Because of your participation, we will be on an exciting adventure.

        On this adventure, you will study societies from around the globe.  You will learn about the geography of various countries, their location, the population, and how people interact with their environments.  You will also learn about historical events and people that have impacted the societies, as well as various  governments,  economic systems, and citizenship. 

SUPPLIES FOR WORLD CULTURES:

 Binder, 2 No. 2 pencils, 2 pens (blue or black ink) for tests, notebook paper, map (color) pencils, glue stick, 1 box of Tissues.

YOUR CHILD’S DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Keep all class work in his/her notebook.  This work is the basis for tests and by keeping the work in one organized notebook it can be used as a study guide.

• Keep track of all assignments in their Daily Agenda/Planner.  This is a great way to monitor your child’s work in my class. 

• HAVE NECESSARY MATERIALS. [pen, paper, notebook/spiral, and daily agenda/planner] in class daily.

• Maintain appropriate behavior in class as detailed by teacher.  Respect for each other is imperative.  Behavior deemed inappropriate by a substitute teacher will not be accepted.  An immediate consequence will follow!  You will be informed.

• Complete his/her own work in the best possible manner.  If assistance is needed, let me know!  [Copying someone else’s work is not right….it is one example of cheating and violates the honor code.]
