 Mission Statement:    The mission of the Jack  Elementary School Library Media Center Program is to enrich and support educational programs in the school. The library media center program will provide materials and services that will encourage growth in knowledge and that will encourage a love of reading. These materials and services will also help to develop literary, cultural and aesthetic appreciation  of the arts and sciences. The library strives to stimulate intellectual curiosity and to establish the habit of lifelong reading and learning.

 Policy and Procedures:  The Library Media Center is open from 8:15 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.  On Tuesday 8:15  a.m. – 10:45 a..m.  Students are welcome to come in any time during those hours to check out books.  After school students must be accompany by a parent.
 
 Kindergarten will be able to check out 1 book after the 1st six weeks.  1st grade students may check out 1 book at a time.  They can keep it  for one week.
  After Winter Break they will be able to take a book home.   2nd through 5th graders may check out 2 books at a time for recreational reading, for a period of two weeks.  Extra books can be checked out for research projects.   Books can be renewed if the student does not finish reading them by the date they are due back at the library.  Please help your child to remember to turn their books in on time.  Students cannot check out any new books until the their over due books has been returned.  Parents may borrow 3 books for one week only.

 Overdue lists will be sent out to the homeroom teachers.  If a student receives an overdue notice, the price for replacing the book   
 will be listed.  If the book has been lost, the student is expected to pay for it. 
  Borrowing books from the library is a privilege. 
  When a student  checks out a book , he/she is expected to be respect and take care of all books.

  All students must have a parent letter on file stating they are responsible for their book if he/she looses the book.

Volunteers:  All Volunteers are  welcomed. 
Every Tyler ISD volunteer will be required to complete an online application prior to the start of each school year. Check out the TISD web site for an application http://www.tylerisd.org/04PARENTS/volunteers.htm

Become a Jack Patriot:  Select from over 12,000 new books in our Library in honor of your child.  A book plate will be placed with  child's name and year donated.  The cost for each book is $20.00.  For details contact our library.
