“Semifinalists named in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program”
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 54th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,200 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $35 million dollars that will be offered next spring. Students at Robert E. Lee High school receiving this honor are: Alex Baldwin, son of Bill and Kristen Baldwin; Ahmed El-Kishky, son of Dr. Hassan El-Kishky and Mrs. Samia Khafagy; Kristin Johnson, daughter of Larry and Donna Johnson; Gabriel Rosenfield, son of Dr. Laurence and Mrs. Janet Rosenfield; and Mika Smith, daughter of Roger and Mary Lynn Smith.

"National Merit Commended"
Three students at Robert E. Lee recently were named National Merit Commended students through the National Merit Scholarship Program. These students have demonstrated outstanding academic potential by their strong performance in this highly competitive program. Students are: Cameron Staton , son of Evelyn and Hal Staton , Hannah Bosley, daughter of Bruce and Shelly Bosley, and Andrew Peacock, son of Rebecca and Chip Peacock.
