How does Tyler ISD serve the needs of
Dyslexic students?
Dyslexic students in the Tyler Independent School District are
served in one of three ways depending on the severity of their dyslexia. Some are served in the regular classroom with a few modifications. A few are served in Special
Education. The majority are served through the MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach)
or Esperanza Dyslexia Programs. These are pull-out, regular education programs which last for an
average of three academic years.
A decision will be made by the educators
involved with the child in cooperation with parents to provide the most
suitable situation for each child.
If you believe that your
child may be dyslexic, please contact your child's campus. Ask for the
Dyslexia Designee. |
