These are the six broad areas that make up the comprehensive guidance program. The intention of classroom guidance is to provide students with the awareness, skill development and application of the skills needed for everyday life and learning. Every six weeks a lesson will be presented in each classroom that addresses one of the areas listed above. Counseling is available to students in small groups and individually, with the purpose being to remove some of the barriers that impede student learning. If a need for extended therapy arises, community referrals will be offered. Group topics might include: academic success, friendship, loss, study skills, self-esteem, and anger management. Students may be referred by teachers, parents or themselves
