April is the month we celebrate “conviction” as our character trait. Conviction means standing for what is right even when others don’t. Everyone enjoys being popular and fitting in with others. But there are times when our beliefs and choices will take us into the uncomfortable territory of standing alone. There is a right thing to do. Clear limits cannot always be set, but when the borders are fuzzy, children learn that doing the right thing is important. There is a line they won’t cross. Sometimes, not doing something is the right thing to do, but how do you know? Personal insight from safe exploration and shared experiences leads to confidence in making future decisions alone. There is an example to be shown. Being an example is not always fun. But showing the strength of your beliefs can inspire others to join in the vision. Standing for what is right then becomes a little easier with the support of others. Whatever the outcome, when we show conviction it naturally displays an example. En el mes de abril celebramos la “convicción” como rasgo de nuestra personalidad. Convicción significa apoyar lo que es correcto aunque otros crean que no lo es. A todos nos gusta ser reconocidos y llevarnos bien con todos. Aunque en ocasiones nuestras creencias y elecciones nos lleven a la incómoda situación de estar solos. Siempre debemos hacer lo correcto. en caso de no tener las cosas muy claras, los niños saben que hacer lo correcto es siempre muy importante. Hay una línea que no podemos cruzar. En ocasiones, no hacer algo es siempre lo correcto pero ¿cómo podemos saberlo? Tanto la experiencia personal como la de los compañeros son muy importantes para adquirir la confianza necesaria para tomar futuras decisiones individualmente. Siempre hay un ejemplo que mostrar. Ser el modelo no suele ser divertido pero mostrar a los demás la fortaleza de nuestras creencias puede inspirar a los demás. Cualquiera que sea el resultado de mostrar nuestra convicción… siempre supondrá un buen ejemplo.
