Sarah Jane Walker
School Counselor

My name is Sarah Jane Walker and I am so thankful to be the counselor at Bell Global Communications Academy. This year will be my
7th year as an elementary school counselor and my 4th year here at Bell. Previous to my counseling career, I taught Dual Language Kindergarten in Jacksonville ISD for 6 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University and my Masters of Arts degree in School Counseling from the University of Texas in Tyler. I truly love being a school counselor! Every day is a new day, and no day of work looks just like the one before. I especially enjoy working with all the students at our school and the diversity that it brings! Some days I will do a guidance lesson with a Kindergarten class and then jump to a small group activity with 5th graders. I also enjoy meeting with parents, teachers, and students to create ways for students to be the best they can be.
Character
education is key when it comes to our school. Each month we will
have a special character trait that is emphasized. I will be
meeting with kindergarten classes on a weekly basis and 1st-5th
grade classes every three weeks. I will also be creating
several prosocial small groups that will meet on a weekly
basis. These groups encourage positive social behaviors and
manners. As many of our students know, I never come empty handed
to a classroom. I have about 40 puppet friends that travel with
me ( but not all at the same time)! Each one of them has a
unique personally which strengthens student awareness to
diversity and individuality. Meeting with classes is truly the
joy of my day! It is my desire to help meet the social and emotional needs of each child on our campus. Many times, children go through difficult experiences and need support. I can provide that support to parents and students through small group and/or individual counseling. If at any time you would like to set up a conference with me to discuss your child, please feel free to call me at 903.262.1845. Whether a student is dealing with a divorce, the death of a loved one, friendship issues, anger management, or any other personal concern, I am here to help. Social and emotional issues don’t go away overnight and are not forgotten just because a child sits down in a math class. If we can work together to meet these needs, students will feel better AND do better in their academic areas.
My goal and professional motto is “To do Whatever It Takes To Ensure Learning For All!” I look forward to a wonderful year at Bell and am excited to be a part of a team that is ready to do “whatever it takes!”
