Drop-off and
Pick-up Procedures
Please be patient,
especially these first days of school as students and parents
become accustomed to our arrival and dismissal procedures.
For AM Arrival:
Front horseshoe driveway -
will be used for TISD buses and daycare vans only.
Please do not park along the curb in this area. Parking
spaces are available in this lot and the large adjacent lot on
Hankerson. Several handicapped spaces are located in the
horseshoe near the building.
Sixth Street Cafe drive - will
be used for Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. Please pull as
far forward as you can and have your child exit on the right
side of your vehicle. A staff member will be on duty from 7:15 to 8:00 AM.
Baxter Street driveway -
will be
used for students in Grade 2, 3, 4, and 5. Drivers
please form a single line in the right lane, pull up as far
forward as you can to make room for many cars. Our students and
staff will open car doors on the curb side. Please be sure your
students safely exit your vehicle on the curb side. After the
drop-off is complete, drivers may use the left lane for passing
to allow a free flow of exiting traffic.
Students who walk to school will enter at the
nearest doors on their route. Those who ride bicycles will enter
nearest to the bicycle racks.
If your children are in more than one grade,
please use the driveway assigned for the youngest child.
PLEASE, please,
please-
· Never call children to cross traffic lanes · Never allow any
child to get out of the car on the left side of your vehicle or
from the left lane.
· Never park or leave your car unattended in either driveway.
(If you are accompanying your child into the building, please
help us with traffic by parking in the parking lots entered from
Hankerson.)
3:00 PM Dismissal:
Our goal at
dismissal is for all students to leave the campus safely and as
quickly as possible.
To speed up dismissal, please display your child's first
& last name and grade in large letters on the front right
windshield or visor (Paper plates work well.) You do not need
to get out of your car.
Staff members will be using hand held radios to communicate the
names on the paper plate to teachers who will be supervising
students in the building for a safe and orderly dismissal.
Baxter Street drive -
Pick up for Gr. 2,3,4,5.
Drivers please form a single line in the right lane, pull up as
far forward as you can to make room for many cars.
Sixth Street Cafe drive -
Form a pick-up line in cafe drive and out onto Sixth Street. K &
I students will be accompanied to their vehicle by teachers to
assure student safety.
Front horseshoe driveway - Daycare
vans and buses only. There is no car pick-up at this location.
IF YOU PICK UP CHILDREN IN MANY GRADES - TELL THEM TO MEET
YOU ON THE DRIVEWAY SIDE OF THE YOUNGEST CHILD.
