Bella
Girls
{A learning opportunity for young
ladies in the 4th and 5th grades}
Bella girls is an extracurricular group for
4th and 5th grade girls on the Bell
Campus. Bella is the Italian word for “beauty”. In this day and
age, so much of our society and media equate beauty to outer
appearances and physical characteristics. It is important that
young ladies learn that inward beauty is where true self-value
is found. Through this after school program, we will be focusing
on:
·
building healthy relationships
·
learning how to make a positive impact on our community
·
encouraging positive self-concept and body image
·
accepting and appreciating the differences in others
·
Social etiquette
·
Purposefully reaching out to others with kindness
The group l meets the 3rd Monday afternoon of each
month from 3:00-4:30pm. Mrs. Walker, Bell Counselor, facilitates
this group along with other staff members. Each girl is a part
of a small group that meets for a few minutes each meeting. This
gives them a sense of connectedness to the group as well as an
adult sponsor that they can go to with questions or guidance.
Staff Sponsors:
Keri Hampton, Principal
Erin Siegrist, 5th grade teacher
Amanda Nicholson, 3rd grade teacher
Lisa Brown, Assistant Principal
Sarah Jane Walker, Counselor
Guidelines:
To help in aiding the cohesion of the group and create an
environment that is conducive to accepting one another and
building friendships, participants are asked to commit to being
a part of this learning opportunity. After 2 absences, a group
member will no longer be able to participate in the after school
program (unless an absence is due to a change in academic
tutorial schedules). A note will be sent home prior to meeting
day to remind participants and their parents about the Monday
meeting.
Parents/guardians are asked to pick up their child promptly at
4:30pm in the Baxter Street circle drive.
