Parent Connection: Support
Your Child's Success
Active parent support from home is a very important factor in student success. Here are some ideas that you can implement to help your child:
-
Set aside a regular time at home for schoolwork. Even if there is no homework your child can practice new skills, play word games, thinking games or even try some science experiments. It’s a way to develop self discipline and discover your child’s interests and passions.
-
Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep. Kids need rest more than they need TV.
-
Read to and with children every day. Kids who practice their reading, like kids who practice jump shots or piano, do better than those who don’t.
-
Build a “can do” attitude in your child. When he tries something hard, praise his effort. Help break a big project down into smaller tasks. Then praise him as he completes each one.
