My name is Mercedes Romero and I’m the Reading and Writing teacher for 3^rd Grade Bilingual Students. This is my ninth year working at T. J. Austin and I just love it!

                I am from Pozoblanco, a small city in the South of Spain. Since I was very young I always wanted to be a teacher and I’m very happy of having achieved this goal even if it is so far from home!

                Being here is one of the most important experiences in my whole life. It has allowed me to be in contact and getting to know different people and different cultures that I’ve adopted as mine since I enjoy being part of them a lot!

                I love reading children literature. My favorite authors are Barbara Park, Janell Cannon, Peggy Rathman, Dav Pilkey, and above all… Patricia Polacco. This year we will be reading books from these authors and from many others everyday in the classroom. I’m sure you’re going to love their books! I’m sure you’re going to love READING!
