Overview of Departments
 

Athletics
The Robert E. Lee athletic department consists of baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, and volleyball.  Students are not required to play a sport, however may wish to complete their required 1 1/2 PE credits by doing so.  All teams compete in division 5A.

Career & Technology
The career and technology department consists of all computer and business classes.  Such classes include, BCIS, Computer Science, Business Computer Programming, Web Mastering, plus much more.  A student must have 1 technology credit to graduate, this excludes his or her required keyboarding credit.

English
In order to graduate a student is required to have four English credits, which include English 1 through English 4. A student may choose to take all of  these courses on level, AP, or dual-credit.  If taken AP summer reading is required and students will be continually reading throughout the year.  The English department focuses its teachings on grammar and literature.

Fine Arts
The Robert E. Lee fine arts department is the best around.  Theater is headed by Mrs. Ryan.  Also included in Fine Arts is technical theater, art, and speech. One fine arts credit is required plus 1/2 speech credit.  All the tech, art and theater students pull together to put on yearly productions such as this years fall musical "Into The Woods".

Health & PE
Health is a course required before leaving high school. This may be taken any year.  It is also required that a student have 1 1/2 credits of PE.  These may be obtained through athletics also.  Some courses, such as, Drill Team, may substitute for the PE credits.

Math
Required math courses include Algebra 1 and 2 and Geometry.  Additional courses include Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and Math and Models.  In order to graduate the three required credits must be obtained.

Science
A required 2 credits is needed of science courses.  Biology 1 is taken freshmen year.  After that it is up to the student to choose from classes such as Biology 2, Chemistry, Physics, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and Geology. Each class has hands on labs such as dissecting and mixing chemicals.

Social Studies
The social studies department consists of all foreign language classes (Spanish, French, German), psychology, sociology, all history and geography classes, all economic classes and all government classes.  A student must have 3 1/2 social studies credits to graduate, plus 1/2 economic and 1/2 government credit that are not included in the previous 3 1/2.  Government and economics is taken the students senior year of high school.
