Here they begin to transition from primary grades into the intermediate level.  They work diligently to prepare for their future by polishing their educational skills and striving towards becoming more independent.  

It is a time to teach, learn, and demonstrate responsibility in both personal and academic areas.  

Third grade is also the first time they encounter state mandated tests, which challenges students to prove their growth in learning and meeting expectations.
