Fair
On
Friday, March 5th, Mr. Rasure and Mr. Haynes accompanied 14 Moore students
to the Kilgore Regional Science Fair. Those participating were 6th graders
Sofija Chroneos, Taylor Rodieck, Rebecca Crosman, and Tooba Khan, 7th
graders Katherine Smith, Parker Freeman, Garrett Farmer, Schuyler Wages, and
Ethan Elkins, and 8th graders Dhruv Narayanan, Maria Chroneos, Seth Oldham,
Caleb Wagner, and Kylar Gee. Also participating via live video-link from
India was Harnaina Bains.

Moore students competed against Boulter, Hogg, Hubbard and Dogan in the UIL
academic meet Saturday, Feb. 27th! The meet was hosted by Hogg who won the
competition last year.

Moore Solo and Ensemble Festival
On February 25th, 7th and 8th
grade members of the Moore Mustang Band participated in the Moore Solo and
Ensemble Festival. Students learned a solo or a part to a small ensemble
and then played in front of a judge for a rating.

Yesterday 14 of
Moore's outstanding 6th, 7th and 8th grade students competed in a nationally
recognized, crazy hard mathematics competition at UTTyler called Mathcounts.

Dames XVII Century, is delighted to announce that Moore MST Middle School
8th grade student, Lydia Kilsby, is the winner of the 2010 Colonial Heritage
Essay Contest.

participated in The TJC District Science Fair on February 16th
with fantastic results. Congratulations to all of these students and
to their parents and their science teachers! Once again, Moore swept away
the competition!

Junior
Historians journey to Clairmont Nursing Home
Thirty three Junior Historians,
along with Mr. Haynes, Mrs. Cagle, and Mrs. Stephenson, journeyed to
Clairmont Nursing Home on a snowy February morning.

2010 Tennis
This year tennis tryouts begin on February 23 which is an
“A” day. 7th graders will have tryouts on “A” days and 8th
graders will have tryouts on “B” days. Tryouts will be held during A4 or
B4 at U.T. Tyler. I will transport participants in a school bus to and from U.T.
Tyler.

Moore Mars Rover Team
On Friday, January 29th, the Moore MST Mars Rover
Team competed at the East Texas State Fairgrounds against 5 other schools.
Their design, The Pooper Scooper, was put through rigorous testing including
a speed test, blindfolded driving, rock collection, total weight, hill
climb, and a verbal presentation.

Every Girl's Battle
On Friday, January 22nd, over 140
girls/women came together from all parts of Tyler to attend Every Girl's
Battle held at Moore Middle School. Every Girl's Battle is a program
intended to teach girls about the importance of staying pure until marriage.

Results for the East Texas State
Fair Computer Science Division are in. Moore of course showed East Texas
why we are the best middle school in East Texas winning

Team
Also, the Moore Academic Challenge Team went into the final round of matches
on Wednesday with a guarantee of at least third place. This was the seventh
year in a row for the Mustangs to place in the tournament, something no
other East Texas school has ever done.

Each
year the newspaper sponsors the spelling bee for counties in Texas. The students
who wanted to participate in the bee received study packets in October and were
instructed to study on their own time.

On
January 19, Barbara Fulsom with the East Texas Food Bank came and talked to Mrs.
Livingston’s classes about food nutrition and about what role the food bank
plays in the East Texas area.

Congratulations to the Mustang Cheerleaders - the 2009-2010 NCA DOUBLE
National Champions! The cheerleaders achieved two spectacular wins
on the national level on December 28th & 29th at the Dallas Convention
Center.

We had a Tyler author come
to Moore today to present a signed book to one of our students. After
the student heard the author, Jill Alexander, speak at a function at TJC
she asked Mrs. Smith if we had the book in our school library.

AVID students traveled to LeTourneau University
Moore MST Magnet School 8th grade AVID students
traveled to LeTourneau University for a tour of the different academic
departments. Students also attended chapel (which is a requirement
of enrolled students). The highlight of the visit was the

Moore Cheerleaders Win First at State
Mustang cheerleaders won their
fourth state title this past weekend in Denton at the Texas Cheerleader
Magazine State Championship. The girls placed first in their division
winning a championship banner and a large trophy. In addition, each
cheerleader was awarded a state championship jacket.

Junior Historians collect cans for
PATH
The Moore Junior Historians sponsored
the annual Homecoming Dance on Friday, October 23rd. They raised money for
their field trip and collected almost 700 pounds of food that was donated to
PATH for distribution during the upcoming holidays.

Moore Fundraiser Participants Celebrate in Style
On Friday October 16th, one
hundred and eighty excited Moore Mustangs were treated to a field trip at Green
Acres Bowling with soft drinks and popcorn as an added treat.

Try-outs
Advanced Choir members went to Hallsville High School this past Saturday for the
All Region Try-outs. Twenty –Four Students boldly sang for judges in the
audition. We had Twelve students making the Choir.

The Duke University 7th
Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation. The Talent
Search identifies academically talented 7th graders based on
standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school.

Family Night

education. The Moore MST Campus, TISD’s Math, Science, and Technology Magnet
School, is holding its 10th annual Math, Science, and Technology Night on
Thursday, October 15, 2009 on the school campus.

Department Chair Participates in Cultural Teaching Experience
Some teachers go to the beach; some go to the mountains or some exotic location;
and some even teach summer school. This past summer, Dr. Jerry Frazier Social

CHEER FOR A CURE / NATIONAL PINK DAY
Moore cheerleaders
will sponsor their first ever “Cheer for a Cure” this month. Since October is
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the cheerleaders will be raising money to donate
to the Komen for a Cure Foundation. All proceeds from spirit sells sold at
school, athletic events, and other school functions will go toward their goal of
raising $1,000 for the local Komen chapter.

SCHOOL-WIDE FUNDRAISER WINNERS
Our final sales have closed out for the school-wide
fundraiser with a total profit for our campus at $10,774.22. TLC Fundraising
has worked with us to establish the dates for the bowling party, limo rides and
CiCi’s Pizza for lunch field trip. Students selling 7 or more items are invited
to attend the Bowling Party at Green Acres Bowling on October 16th.

The “S” in MST
The Moore Science Department offers students a wide variety of opportunities to
explore the world around them. The faculty of the Science Department has a
collective century of experience and knowledge in teaching and a wide variety of
scientific disciplines.
See You at the Pole
Moore MST Middle School FCS hosted a "See You at the Pole" program at the
school's flagpole Wednesday before classes began. Approximately 200 students,
parents, and teachers were in attendance. Our guest speaker, Jason Humphreys, addressed how fortunate we are to be able to
assemble and express our beliefs freely.

we held our first dance of the 2009-2010 school year. The sponsors of
the dance were the Moore P.T.A. and the Moore Student Council. The

Summer Reading Club
Several students participated in the first ever Summer
Reading Club at Moore Middle School. Students were encouraged to read books this
summer and then go online to complete the short form answering a few questions
about the book they read. This information was then e-mailed to Mrs. Smith, the
librarian.

Cheerleaders Dominate TJC Camp
After making a clean sweep at the Universal Cheerleader
Association camp in June, Moore Middle School cheerleaders and mascot made a
repeat performance by winning the top awards at the National Cheerleader
Association camp held at Tyler Junior College August 3-5. The squad won Champion
