Support Our Community

Service Project

Sponsored by the Hubbard MYP

 

MYP students challenge the Hubbard student body and Tyler to support those in need.

 

6th grade will sponsor the Rainbow Room of Smith County

7th grade will sponsor The St. Paul’s Foundation

8th grade will support our local soldiers

 

Beginning Monday, November 9, each grade level will deliver items to their Social Studies classroom that will be donated to the organization they are supporting.  In addition, grade levels will compete in a spirit chain contest (.10 a strip) to raise money.  Funds raised will pay for postage on the supplies collected for solders.  The remaining balance will be donated to the organization of the grade level that raised the most money in the spirit chain contest Donations will be accepted November 9-30, 2009.

Needed Supplies
 

6th Grade: The Rainbow Room:

  • ankets
  • Kids: sweatshirts, socks, and underwear
  • Non-perishable food itemssonal: toilet paper, paper towels, laundr

7th Grade: ST. Paul’s Foundation:

·         Non-perishable food items

·         Personal: shampoo, soap, towels, bedding

·         Kids: sweatshirts, socks, underwear

8th Grade: Supplies for Soldiers:

·         Notepads, pencils, pens, card games, DVD’s, gum, hard candy, bar soap, crossword puzzle book, Sudoku, knee high socks, band-aids, shampoo, lip balm, sunscreen lotion


 

The Industrial Tech 7th grade students at Hubbard have been working on a structural design project that includes designing and building a bridge with ONLY toothpicks and Elmer’s glue.  This morning we tested the strength of their bridges by placing weights on them until they broke.  I think you will be surprised by the results……
 

And remember ONLY toothpicks and Elmer’s glue……

FUN FRIDAY-Serve-A-Thon!

Tomorrow is Fun Friday for those eligible. You will need to purchase a ticket from a teacher on your team for one dollar to attend the serve-a thon.  We will have music, pizza, candy, water and slushies, all for a dollar. Come out and support your school in its efforts to do graphic design for the gym floor.

 

The National Junior Honor Society will meet Friday morning in Mrs. Leonard's room.
This is a required meeting.

If you cannot attend, you must check with Ms. Pennebaker before Friday morning.
