Head Start/Title I Director's Goals
2002-2003
- Continue to assist with the alignment of the Head Start curriculum(s) and
assessment instrument(s) with the Texas Education Agency's Pre-Kindergarten
Curriculum Guidelines (December 1999) and the Tyler Independent school
District Kindergarten Texas Assessment Knowledge Skills (TAKS) (beginning
2000-2001 with Art/Science/Math).
- Continue to partnership with United Way of Tyler in establishing an Even
Start (infant/toddler/3 year olds) program and how it can be integrated with
our Head Start program (grant submitted August 2002).
- Continue with the extended year (6 weeks) summer school program for
students with limited end of year school mastery, based upon current
assessment instruments.
- Continue to investigate and make referrals to community child care
agencies that provide before and after school child care for low income
families through scholarship opportunities.
- Implement the tracking system for monitoring the academic progress of
students who participated in the Head Start Program (beginning with the
1999-2000 school year).
- With the invitation to apply for One-Time Funds, begin the process for
expanding the Head Start Administrative Complex.
- Become more knowledgeable with the guidelines relative to Title I, Part A
and Title I, Part 2, Subpart D.
