Douglas Elementary has always been a part of my life. As a young child, I lived two blocks from Douglas and attended as a student. After graduating from T.K. Gorman High School, I worked for a few years in the private sector before beginning classes at the University of Texas at Tyler. I graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and joined Tyler ISD in the fall of that year as a 3rd grade teacher at Douglas. In 2004 I received my Masters of Education from the University of Texas at Tyler and was promoted to Assistant Principal at Douglas. Now, in my second year as Principal of Douglas Elementary, I’m looking forward to continued educational excellence and new traditions in our new school. Married with two children, on the weekends I enjoy cooking and sharing my time with family and friends.

Currently in my fifteenth year in education, I started my career in Oklahoma. I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and then began my teaching career as a 4th grade teacher at McLoud Elementary in McLoud, OK. In 1993, my husband and I moved to Tyler where I worked part time as Preschool Coordinator at Tyler’s First Baptist Church. In 1998 I accepted a Content Mastery teaching position at Hogg Middle School and completed my course work for my Masters of Special Education with diagnostician certification from the University of Texas at Tyler. I worked for five years as an educational diagnostician at Hogg Middle School and Douglas Elementary. After completing my principal certification in 2005, I became an assistant principal at Douglas that fall. Married with three teenagers, I enjoy researching family genealogy and reading.
