5000.842           CAFETERIA MANAGERS - SCHOOLS

Requirements:         School cafeteria manager, assistant manager, or manager trainee preferred; certified Mgr I or Mgr II level with TSFSA; ability to supervise employees; to work cooperatively with students, administrators, and faculty; formal on-the-job training in food preparation, cooking, figuring quantities of food needed according to USDA Buying Guide, requisitioning supplies and equipment, sanitation requirements and safe handling of food and equipment; knowledge of the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs, the USDA Commodity program and sound nutrition principles; train employees assigned to kitchen; must work where assigned and be willing to transfer to different schools and different jobs if assigned.  Manual Trades Pay Grade 3; Beginning salary - $9.45 per hour, depending on school and experience; estimated 8 hours daily, willing to work occasional overtime if required.  Applications accepted until filled.

Requirements:         Ability to read, write and understand the English language; demonstrate interest in and aptitude for work to be performed; ability to grow professionally; desire and ability to work with students, staff and other bus drivers; current Commercial Driver’s License and bus driver certification or certifiable; negative mandatory OTETA test.  Other requirements will be discussed at the time of interview.  Manual Trades Pay Grade 3; Beginning salary - $11.00 per hour.  Applications accepted until filled.

5000.823           CUSTODIANS FOR THE DISTRICT

Requirements:         Ability to read basic operating instructions, labels and follow directions; demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities; demonstrate ability to get along with others; use regular and high speed buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, carpet extractors, electric drill, shampooer, lawn mower, yard broom, rake and blower; possess good physical dexterity and have ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; willingness to work occasional overtime.  Manual Trades Pay Grade 1;  Beginning Salary - $7.34 per hour; estimated 8 hours per day.  Applications accepted until filled.

6041(820/821/822)FOOD SERVICE WORKERS

Requirements:         Formal or on-the-job training in food preparation, cooking, estimating quantities of food needed, requisitioning and storage of food and supplies, general kitchen procedures, and nutrition principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, or related experience preferred; current Food Handler’s Certificate; tuberculosis test with negative results; must work where assigned and be willing to transfer; required to be TSFSA certified on the appropriate level of assignment within one year or within a reasonable time when classes are available as defined by the Director of Food Service.  Manual Trades Pay Grade 1; Beginning salary - $7.34 per hour; daily hours vary with assignment.  Applications accepted until positions filled.

6053.820           COOK - CAMP TYLER                                                                                      

Requirements:         Two or more years formal or on-the–job training in food preparations, cooking, estimating quantities of food needed, requisitioning and storing food and supplies general kitchen procedures in nutrition principles; requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment;  current Food Handler’s Certificate; tuberculosis test with negative results;  required to be TSFSA certified on the appropriate level of assignment within 1 year or within a reasonable time as defined by the Director of Food Service.  Manual Trades Pay Grade 1; Beginning salary - $7.34 per hour; estimated 187 days, 8 hours daily.  Applications accepted until filled.

6068.886           TRANSPORTATION PARTS AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Requirements:         High school diploma or GED; entry level computer literacy; knowledge of bus parts; valid Texas commercial drivers license with bus driver certification; negative mandatory OTETA test; pass TEA/DOT annual physical; assist in maintaining department vehicles at maximum efficiency levels; accurately record all repairs, parts and other services; assist in effecting minor facility repairs and improvements; closely monitor two-way radio for distress calls; assess distress calls and take timely and appropriate action; communicates needs assessments to bus shop coordinator; observe and enforce safety standards; maintain accurate parts purchases, issues and inventory records including fuel keys and other accessories so needed by staff; maintain up-to-date inventory of frequently used repair parts and initiate appropriate procurement efforts for replacement; prepare inventory for annual audit and keep inventory levels at minimum levels; follow district purchasing procedures in securing as-needed repair parts; maintain neat, orderly parts room and vehicle repair order files; prepare annual vehicle repair summaries of department vehicles; maintain personal qualifications for driving school buses and act as substitute bus driver or monitor when required; must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement, physical capacity to handle large vehicle tires and wheels.  Manual Trades Pay Grade 4; Beginning salary - $10.58 per hour; estimated 226 days and estimated 8 hours daily.  Applications accepted until filled.

6069.825A         DISTRICT SECURITY OFFICER (2 POSITIONS)

Requirements:         High School Diploma or GED; General knowledge of report writing and security detail; Training in use of handcuffs, Asp and pepper spray; valid Texas Driver’s License; 1 to 2 years experience in law enforcement or related work experience; willingness to work a flexible schedule that will include nights and weekends; monitor parking lots and keep gates closed; maintain proper condition of vehicle; patrol assigned routes, driving or walking, within district buildings/grounds to prevent fires, theft, vandalism, and illegal entries; inspect and secure doors, windows, lights, and gates when building is vacant; respond and investigate any calls from campuses concerning security problems; respond to burglar alarms and fire alarms and check buildings; reset alarms or notify Police or Fire Departments, if necessary; prepare offense, incident and daily reports and ensure thoroughness of information contained in reports; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to maintain emotional control under stress; be physically fit for strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; ability to assist in controlling sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; may be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions; may work outdoors in varying climate conditions; Manual Trades Pay Grade 4; Beginning salary - $10.58 per hour; estimated 226 days yearly and 40 hours weekly.  Applications accepted until filled. 

6070.845           ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE

Requirements:         High School Diploma or GED; apprentice certificate; working knowledge of tools and equipment related to trade; experience in related field; valid Texas driver’s license; willingness to work occasional overtime; maintain fixtures and equipment in buildings in a safe, functional, operational, serviceable condition, and upgrade as needed; ability to plan and schedule daily assigned work orders; prepare materials and equipment needed and required; survey large/questionable jobs with coordinator; survey safety devices and equipment regularly; keep equipment and tools clean and safe; maintain truck in an operational condition; provide complete/accurate information regarding assigned work or completed work to dispatcher and/or coordinator; observe  and practice all safety rules and requirements; Manual Trades Pay Grade 3; Beginning salary $9.45 per hour; estimated 232 days yearly and 40 hours weekly.  Applications accepted until filled.

NOTE: The “No Child Left Behind Law” says that any aide (assistant) who holds a position in a Title I school must hold an Associate Degree or pass a rigorous assessment test to be administered by the District. It also states that aides (assistants) hired after January 8, 2002 must meet these requirements. The District plans to meet this requirement through the Paraprofessional Institute which will be held on various dates at the Region VII Service Center in Kilgore, Texas. Paraprofessionals recommended, who do not have the necessary requirements, will be required to attend the Institute.
