Fifty-two inducted into Hubbard National Junior Honor Society

Fifty-two students from Hubbard Middle School were inducted into membership of the National Junior Honor Society in a ceremony
held at the school May 22, 2007.
Members were selected by a Faculty Council for meeting high standards of scholarship, Service, leadership, citizenship and character.

The National Junior Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for middle level students. Chapters exist in more than 60 percent
of the nation’s middle level schools and, since 1929, millions of students have been selected for membership. NJHS is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary
School Principals, which also sponsors the National Honor Society. |
Tyler-Lee Freshman Swimmer Alex Stafford has just been informed that she has been selected to represent the United States in the IBSA (International Blind
Sports Association) Youth and Student World Games to be held in Colorado Springs this summer.
The event will be held on the Colorado College Campus (July 11th – 17th) with more than 20 nations and over 250 visually-impaired student-athletes (ages 12-19) competing
in Athletics, Swimming, Goalball and Judo.
This will be Alex’s first opportunity to represent the United States in International competition. Alex first represented North Texas last summer when she represented
North Texas Swimming in the Southern Zone Swimming Championships, a USA Swimming event which brings together the best age group swimmers from the Southeast United States
together each summer.
Stafford has recently completed her first season as a member of the Robert E Lee Varsity Swim Team, where she helped the Girl’s Team win the District 12-5A championship.

Hubbard Middle School's Blue and Gray Field Day was a day enjoyed by all. Reenactores set up a
Civil War camp displaying items used by citizens during the war. As students walked through the camp, reenactors explained everyday life for soldiers, doctors, wifes and
children. The reenactment brought history alive for all who attended. See all the photos

Installation of the new climbing wall in the Birdwell Elementary
Gym was completed this week. The wall was part of a $70,000 playground and physical education upgrade funded by the Birdwell Alumni Association and the PTA.
