Moore MST Magnet School Celebrates
50th Anniversary
You are invited to attend our
Fifty Year Celebration. Our
celebration week will take place
during Texas Public Schools Week
scheduled for the first full
week in March (6-10). Our
school will be open all week for
campus tours with displays in
the library of former yearbooks
and awards from each decade. Our
celebration will culminate on
Thursday, March 9, 2006,
with an afternoon, school-wide
assembly starting at 2:45 PM
featuring Tyler Mayor Joey
Seeber and former Moore
principals. A historical video
show will highlight some of the
major events throughout mustang
history and a time capsule will
be launched to the future
success of all mustangs.
Immediately following the
assembly all guests will have an
opportunity to enjoy an antique
car show in the school parking
lot and sip on a soda-float as
we remember the fifties era of
time when our school was first
dedicated to honor J.R. Moore,
former educator and friend.
Make plans now to join us for
fifty years of “excellence in middle
level education.” If you would like
to be a financial supporter of this
celebration, please contact our
Moore office at (903) 262-1640. All
proceeds and donations given toward
this celebration will go towards
expenses and the dedication of a new
trophy case for the school. We
hope to see you on March 9th.
Show your mustang pride and wear
your red and white! Thanks for your
support of mustang country
throughout the years!

Mattie Jones Elementary School
Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Mattie Jones Elementary School,
located at 2521 West Front
Street, opened its doors to
students for the first time on
January 23, 1956. Since that
time it has served hundreds of
children from a community that
has become ethnically and
economically diverse. During its
50 years of existence, the
philosophy at Jones has remained
constant—teach the academic
skills needed by the children in
a nurturing, family-like
environment. The staff at Jones
remains committed to doing
“whatever it takes” to guarantee
that all students master the
objectives for their grade level
and are prepared for the future.
The students and staff of Jones
invite the entire Tyler
community to be a part of the
50th Anniversary celebration for
Jones Elementary. The main
anniversary event will be held
in the school gymnasium on May 2
at 6:30 pm. Steve Blow,
columnist for the Dallas Morning
News and former Jones student,
will be the featured speaker.
All former Jones students and
staff members are invited to
contact the school at (903)
262-2360 or by email at
michael.berrier@tylerisd.org to
have your name placed on our
mailing list for notification of
additional anniversary events.
We are also collecting newspaper
articles, class pictures and
other photographs, and
memorabilia to create a
permanent record of the history
of Jones. If you have any items,
please contact the school.
Make plans to join the Jones
community in celebrating the
“Tradition of Excellence” at
Mattie Jones Elementary. If you
need more information about
anniversary events or how you
can help, contact Michael
Berrier, Jones Principal, at
(903) 262-2360.
